Firenze opened the game with an explosive start, but Rhein Fire eventually took control to secure a 66–14 victory in the Red Lions’ penultimate game of the regular season.
The Firenze Red Lions welcomed Rhein Fire to Florence on Sunday for their penultimate game of the 2026 regular season.
The Red Lions could not have asked for a better start.
On the opening drive, quarterback Armani Edden connected with Brandon Belgrave for a 59-yard touchdown, putting Firenze on the board first and giving the home side an early lead against one of the strongest teams in the league.
Rhein Fire responded quickly, however, and gradually took control of the game. As the afternoon progressed, the visitors built their advantage and eventually secured a 66–14 victory.
Despite the final score, there were positive moments for the Red Lions throughout the game.
Edden finished the afternoon with 265 passing yards and two touchdown passes, while Belgrave recorded eight receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. Edden also connected with Mali Harris-Strayhorn for a 10-yard touchdown before halftime.
The performance once again showed the potential within a young Red Lions roster, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
With one regular-season game remaining, Firenze now turns its attention to the final chapter of its inaugural AFLE campaign.
The result against Rhein Fire was another tough lesson in a demanding first season, but the experience gained throughout these 13 weeks continues to shape the team and the franchise.
One game remains.
