Firenze Red Lions conclude their first AFLE season after a challenging final game against the Vienna Vikings.
The 2026 season has come to an end for the Firenze Red Lions.
On Saturday, the Red Lions travelled to Vienna to face the Vienna Vikings in the final game of their inaugural American Football League Europe season. Facing one of the strongest teams in the league, Firenze fought to compete from the opening stages but ultimately fell 63–17.
A Tough Final Challenge
The Red Lions entered the game determined to finish the season with pride against a Vienna team fighting to secure the South East Conference title and the number one seed in the playoffs.
Firenze showed positive signs early in the contest and was able to compete with the Vikings in the opening stages. However, Vienna's offensive efficiency and defensive pressure gradually changed the direction of the game.
Quarterback Armani Edden and the Red Lions offense continued to battle throughout the afternoon, but constant pressure made it difficult to establish sustained momentum. Vienna recorded seven sacks and eventually took full control of the game.
The End of a Season. The Beginning of a Journey.
The final whistle in Vienna did not only bring an end to a game. It brought the curtain down on the first season in the history of the Firenze Red Lions.
A season that presented challenges, difficult moments and important lessons, but also represented the beginning of something new for American football in Florence.
From the first day of the project to the first game on the field, from the first players to wear the Red Lions uniform to the fans who supported the team throughout the season, 2026 has been the first chapter of a much bigger journey.
The Red Lions have experienced the highs and lows of building a new franchise. Every game, every training session and every challenge has contributed to the foundation that will now be carried into the future.
Looking Ahead
The season is over, but the work does not stop here.
The organization will now begin preparing for the next chapter, continuing to build a stronger and more competitive Firenze Red Lions franchise both on and off the field.
There is still work to do. There is still a long road ahead. But the first chapter has been written.
The hunt continues.
